Invitation to the webinar “From silence to solutions: Judicial practice on harassment of women in the workplace”

The AIRE Centre invites you to the webinar “From silence to solutions: Judicial practice on harassment of women in the workplace”, a crucial discussion about the pervasive issue of harassment faced by women in workplaces. Join the lecture on the on combatting harassment in the workplace, including sexual harassment, bullying, and mobbing.

This webinar is designed for judges, prosecutors, lawyers, and other legal professionals, as well as civil society actors, human rights activists, journalists, and students. The working languages are Bosnian/Croatian/Montenegrin/Serbian, with translation available to Albanian, English, and Macedonian. Prior registration is not required.

The goal of this webinar is to provide insights into the various forms of harassment and effective strategies to tackle it. From physical and verbal abuse to workplace cultures that enable them in the first place, the lecture will examine the nuanced dynamics of harassment and discuss employer responses, including the treatment of whistleblowers. The discussion will focus on the landmark ruling of the European Court of Human Rights in the case of Špadijer v. Montenegro, drawing important lessons on effective judicial response to harassment. The webinar will analyse important international legal standards, including those set out by the European Court of Human Rights. This webinar will also offer practical tools for identifying, addressing, and preventing workplace harassment, emphasising the importance of prompt investigations and support for complainants to prevent secondary victimisation.

The webinar will be led by experts Ivana Jelić, Judge and Section President of the European Court of Human Rights, Vanja Vujović, Judge of the Basic Court in Podgorica, seconded to the Registry of the European Court of Human Rights, and Mersudin Pružan, Prosecutor from the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
